Well, I'm finally cutting down to one pumping session a day at work. I've been telling myself I'd do it, or I'd do it for a day or two then go back to two pumping sessions. But I"m getting sick of it. She's one now and she doesn't feed a lot during the day when I *am* home, and isn't that interested in what she gets during the day when she's at daycare. I'd also like her to eat more solid food.
I'm a bit nervous my supply will drop and she'll give up, but if that starts to happen I guess I can always up the pumping again. I pump about nine - ten ounces at the one pumping session.

I say go for it. I'm sure your supply will be fine. I heard other moms that just will quit pumping and let them nurse at night and in morning and still keep their supply.
I wish I could get that much in one pump session. Lucky you! I still pump 3x a day. I am so looking forward to be done with the pump. Hopefully just a few more months DS will be 10 mos. next week.
Good luck!

Sounds like your supply is still fine. When I slowed down pumping with DS1 I didn't really notice a change in supply going from 2 pumping sessions to 1. As long as you are pumping as much as you think she needs there shouldn't be a problem.

I'm going through the same thing!
Elke is one so I'm not giving her bottles anymore. She basically won't drink my milk from a sippy, just juice. All this pumping I'm doing is really going to waste.
She nurses in the morning and at night. The days I am home (I work from home 2x a week) she does nurse during the day, but she eats plenty of food as well. I went down to two pumping sessions, then one. And today I haven't pumped yet and am thinking of not pumping.
Scary! I worry about her having so much less milk, but I bet she gets ~10 ounces nursing AM and PM, just guessing there.
Does this all sound ok?

Holy crap! 10 oz at a pumping? Are you kidding?
I pumped for a little over a year. I cut down on the number of minutes pumped in both pumpings for a couple of days, then just pumped 1x during the workday. I did fine. Of course, I never reacted to the pump like you did.
My dd is still nursing lots of times a day; and she is 21 mos. She nurses around 6pm, then to sleep around 8:30. She nurses at least 1-2x a night and then when I get up in the morning. And on the weekend, I nurse her to sleep for her naps.
My supply hasn't suffered. In fact, I never enjoyed nursing as much until I QUIT that stupid pump. I cannot tell you how stressed I was trying to get x # of oz a day for the kid to drink. I hated pumping and nursing got so stressfree the day I tossed the old horns aside.
Happy freedom to you!

Well now I'm getting between six and eight ounces at a time I didn't get much of a chance to try it out this week as Clare had hand foot and mouth and I had to take two days off work to look after her! Thanks for all the support - it's always good to hear the success stories! I just worry because she doesn't eat a lot of solid food - although when she is home with dh and only drinking a little from the bottles, she does eat a lot more. I've stopped feeding her overnight (that is, I don't feed her between eleven at night and five in the morning) but she nurses first thing in the morning, as soon as I get home from work, before bedtime, and then late at night. On the days I'm not working, she gets three more feeds than that during the day. pax Jane

I am glad it is working out and I have to say I am down right jealous of the amount you pump. I pump 3xs at work for a total of 8-9 ounces.

It's funny, when I was b'fing dd#4, I could never pump more than two or three ounces. My midwife told me that the more used your breasts are, the better the output! I notice it really drops off if I forget to drink water, though.

Nypples, how old is your baby?
DS is 9.5 months and I have recently cut my third pumping session out while at work. So now I pump once in the morning and twice while at work.
I get about 18oz a day, with the third pumping session i was getting about 24oz a day, and ds still only between 8-12 oz at my MIL's, so I was freezing waay too much.
I have been doing this for about a week now. Hopefully my body will adjusted and it will keep producing the way it has. I have to say it does feel good to cut that session out durring the day.

Carmen, she's now nearly eighteen months old Where did the time go? I'm not pumping any more - she feeds in the morning before I go to work, when I get home from work, just before her bedtime, and then just before my bed time. On the weekends, she'd have about six feeds a day. I don't know how much I can pump now as I haven't done it for a couple of months! pax Jane

Damn, 18 oz total in a day???
I pump every 5 hours for my twins and make about 80 ounces a day for them and sometimes more. I actually have more than they need and am considering selling some of my excess. I had no idea I was such a prolific pumper. I thought this was normal! Holy shit.
