Who has a suggestion for my presentation to my Unit Supervisor next month?

I have one month to state my case as to why I deserve extra time in my breaks to pump and a place to do it besides the bathroom.  I need all the intelligent, informed material out there.  I get to give a presentation as to why I deserve a 20 minuite break every two hours vs other employees who only get 15.  I don't even know where to start. Huh

I'm not too good at where to find info. but here are a few ideas:
-research on germs in the bathroom
-print pages on mastitis and supply problems is you don't pump enough
-bring your pump with you to show how long it takes to put the parts together and then take them apart and clean them
-and maybe some info on the benefits of breastmilk compared to formula to show that if you don't pump enough you may have supply problems and have to supplement with formula. Therefore having a greater risk of your dd getting sick and you having to miss a day or so from work.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

I would hunt up some statistics on the general overall health of breastfed vs. formula fed babies. I would specifically look for stuff citing how ear infections etc are decreased in exclusively breastfed babies and I would tell my boss that this 5 extra minutes per break could very well save him whole sick DAYS becuase of the added immune protection it affords your baby.

Also, if you aren't able to pump, you put your own health at risk like Brian'smom said. You are more prone to mastitis, plugged ducts, thrush etc if you are unable to pump properly. You will be a much more productive employee if you are allowed 5 measly extra mionutes per break to pump for your baby.
