Jasmine will sit and tear paper for as long as I will let her, she will take reguar lined, unlined, old magazine, anything, and tear it up into little peices, she really enjoys doing it, and it seems to be a form of relaxation for her, is this healthy? Is this a sign of something else? I find it strange, I dont know if it is the sound, or the action that she likes more,
what do you think?

I think that if I let Bella she would peal every single piece of paper off of every single crayon we own, and then ask for more. Personally I think it's just one of her quirks, and it helps in finger dexterity. If you can stand her doing it, let her.

Well, it is definitely a cause and effect type of activity - how long has she been doing this? Sometimes as soon as you decide to not worry about a quirk it goes away as quickly as it appeared. If there are no other unusual behaviors that you are seeing I would chalk it off to a quirk and lock up anything you don't want shredded!

Does she rip her books? Kids have all different ways of relaxing themselves. Some suck thumb, some rock, some hum, some play with mommies hair. It just may be her thing.

no, she doesnt tear her books, she got in quite a bit of trouble when she was about 3 for tearing books on a couple of ocassions, she knows better now, and that is is not respectful of her things to do that, its just regualr paper, It very well may be one of her quirks,
she seems to be perfect in every developmental way, I just vagely remember something on lifetime years ago, that mentioned something like this, i cant for the life of me remember now of course,

can i have her? she and i would have a blast! i love doing little tedious things that keep my hands busy. rolling paper, picking lint off socks, putting glue on my hands and letting it dry so i can peel it off.... if she is weird then so am i. it is soothing in a way, it takes my mind off other things. i bought this a few weeks ago just because it looked like something fun to sit on the couch and do while i watched tv. (anything to keep me from eating.) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/157054560X/103-1773815-8540622?v=glance&n=283155i don't worry about myself, so i don't think you need to worry about jasmine. we're just quirky.

Thanks for the link Mal, she would love something like that!
when she was about ten months old, she sat in the hallway of our apartment stacking and re-stacking dixie cups for 74 minutes, after a few minutes of her doing it, i couldnt believe she still was, so i started timing her, she was very focused, she has always liked tedious things like this.
