I'm starting this so I can keep good track of Alex's progress now that we're ending co-sleeping.  I figured since the last post in here was March 31, no one will mind me sneaking away to this little forum to write  Smiley

5/30/06 - Alex's first night.  I cuddled him to sleep.  He fell asleep around 9pm.  Slept until midnight when he woke up crying.  I went back in and tried to settle him but he wouldn't go back to sleep.  I laid down with him for a couple of hours and then snuck out.  He woke up 10 mins later crying again.  He slept on and off for the next couple of hours and woke again at 4:15.  At that point I gave up an brought him to bed with me where he slept until 8:30.

5/31/06 - A much better night!   I laid down with him and he fell asleep around 9:30.  He slept until 2:30 and he woke up crying.  I went in and laid down with him again.  I ended up falling asleep too for a couple of hours but snuck out around 4:30.  He slept until 7:30.  So out of the 10 hours in his bed he was asleep alone in there for 8!!!

6/1/06 - Last night was so great!  I cuddled Alex to sleep around 9:30.  He slept until 3:30.  He woke up but not crying.  He was babbling.  I should have just left him to see if he'd go back to sleep on his own, but since his room is so new to him I was nervous for some reason.  I went in and he was still lying down.  I laid down next to him and within 5 minutes he was out.  I went back to bed and he slept until 7:30!  dance  Here's hoping the trend continues!

It's been going to well that I haven't even thought to come back here and write!

The past several nights have been pretty good.  We still haven't had a whole night's sleep that was uninterrupted but I'm not really expecting that.  Saturday night I did let him sleep with me.  I had a really rough time getting him to fall asleep so I brought him to bed with me.  By the time he fell asleep I was exhausted so I just left hm there.

I'm surprised at how quickly he picked up that it was his room and his bed.  Now, after bathtime I say, "Okay, let's go get in your bed!"  He walks down the hallway, into his room and puts his arms up and tries to climb into his bed!

Monday night he slept from 9:30 to 3:30.  Then all of a sudden I hear footprints in my room.  I thought it was the cat!  Then he was at the side of my bed and said "up!"  No crying, he just got out of bed, walked down the hall and into my room.  I found this somewhat funny!  I didn't hear him make a sound on the moniter.

He went to bed tonight at 9:30 and I haven't heard from him yet.  Maybe tonight will be the night??

I think we're regressing a little bit.  I need to be better about this.  I had committed myself and now I am getting lazy.  Last night I laid down with Alex around 9:30 and we both fell asleep right away.  I woke up pretty confused about why I was in his bed still!  Went out into the hallway and everything was dark.  Paul was already in bed and it was midnight.  I got in bed and at 1:30 Alex came into my room and tried to climb in bed.  I was so tired and half asleep that I just pulled him up and let him sleep with me.  I have a feeling this is going to be a bad habit for him if I let it continue.  Ugh....

He slept in his bed, by himself from 10:15 until 8:00 this morning!  I am still sort of in shock.  Of course I slept horribly because I kept waking up and going to check on him because I couldn't believe he was still in his bed.  I really hope that this is the beginning of a new trend!
