Nathan that is. He's my biggest baby and my fastest delivery. My water broke about 1:45 Saturday morning. It was really interesting the way it broke. I woke up with the same "POP" that woke me up when Abby's water broke. But there was no gush. I was completely dry. So I thought maybe he just moved really weird. Got up, went pee then went back to bed. As I was repositioning myself in bed, I felt the gush. I thought "Holy shit, my water really did break!" Got up, stuffed a towel between my legs and told K. Of course it took K telling me before it hit me to put a pad and panties on  I figured we had time and told K to grab a shower before we headed in. By the time I was checked in at 2:30 my contractions were already 5 minutes apart! I was only dilated to a 4 though, so K and I spent the next 4 hours walking the halls while being monitored for 15 minutes every. I also had to have an IV for my penicillin (GBS +) It took 4 tries for them to get it in. I'm a hard stick  I was also gushing off and on this whole time and even left a huge puddle on the floor the first time they got me out of bed so I could walk. Anywho, the contractions were getting pretty nasty by 6:30am but I was still only at a 4, so I asked for something to take the edge off so I could rest a bit. They gave me a bit of Nubain (sp?) and I rested for about an hour, then got up and started walking again. At 8:30 I asked for another check because the last few contractions I'd had (still walking mind you!) I'd had damn near uncontrollable urges to push. I was almost a 9 then! huge progress in 2 hours! I went from there to complete in just a few minutes and Nathan was born with just 15-20 minutes of pushing. They'd started my second dose of penicillin at 8:30 and had to turn it up high to get it all in, in time. And it just hit me that I was up and walking 20 minutes before he was born! Holy crap! That's about it. It was majorly fast. The midwife who delivered me is about 34 weeks pregnant herself and said that I'd inspired her. She wanted her delivery to be like mine.  |
